What makes it different from a typical park restaurant is that it is open to the public as well as owners. That keeps the kitchen busy, the menu honest, and the atmosphere closer to a destination pub than a private clubhouse.

The indoor heated swimming pool is one of those facilities that you only really appreciate after the first November visit. It runs year round, sheltered from the Cornish weather, and is available to lodge owners as part of their ownership.
Winter weekends, autumn half terms, blustery spring mornings. The pool means the park has a Plan B that works regardless of the forecast, which is genuinely useful with grandchildren in tow.

The on-park gym runs as Fort Fitness, with a full range of cardio and resistance kit. Lodge owners have access as part of their ownership, and separate public membership is available through Fort Fitness directly for visitors who want to use it.
It is not glamorous, but it is genuinely well equipped, and the convenience of having it on park means it gets used in ways that an off-site gym would not.
The coast path runs through the park
The single most distinctive feature of Whitsand Bay Fort is geographic rather than built. The South West Coast Path, the longest National Trail in England, runs directly along the cliff at the edge of the park. Owners step out of their front door, cross the lane, and join the path within a minute.
The path leads east to Rame Head and the medieval chapel within two miles, or west along the full four-mile sweep of Whitsand Bay. Steep paths drop down to the beach below the park, giving on-foot access to the sand without leaving the grounds. For walkers, dog owners and anyone who cares about the view from their lodge window, this is the thing that pushes the Fort from "nice park" into "genuinely unusual setting."

A local bus route serves the Rame Peninsula and connects to Torpoint, useful for owners arriving without a car or going out for an evening drink.
